Portraits are often the most unforgiving of artworks to create as the likeness to the human being portrayed must hold true.  Portraits are also some of the more tedious works to create as they take many layers to finesse the details required. Portraits can be in a formal setting, natural setting, expressive or inventive setting and can even include poetry or embellishments to make them more contemporary. Portraits can be created on flat surfaces such as canvas or paper, or out of materials that create three dimensions such as clay or papier-mache'.
