The artist, Mary Catherine Watson, developed an eye for shooting photography while taking reference photos for her art business while on family vacations. Many of the design principals found in fine art are also relevant in the world of photography. As such, many of her works are captivating. In 2004, she started to submit works in ameteur photography contests. Then, in 2008, she moved up to the semi-professional category and in 2009 she moved up to the professional level and one First Place for her photograph: Looking for the Light. Catherine can be commissioned to shoot photography, but this component of the business is not the focus of the business, thus, all prints, albums and tangible products will have to be created using a third party company such as Kodak.
Coming Soon: Catherine is creating a new body of works based on scenes from remote locations that include water, light and wildlife. Many of the works will include seascapes and waterscapes. This new body of works is scheduled for its debut July 2010. Many of her photographs will be released in artistic format as well, including: black and white, digital manipulation and cropped macro.

Mary Catherine Watson brings the fine art vision to the world of photography. Often times you will see a unique assymetric balance in her works such as in her National Photography submissions above.
There could be nothing more darling than a tiny little dog in a giant cup--but add to it the age of the dog and the fact that she only had three teeth left and you get a dog that looks like it is constantly laughing. Mary Catherine Watson looks for fun ways to pose animals to bring out their personality in photography.
The artist has always been fond of nature and is especially pleased to find it in unlikely locations, such as an urban setting.
Roses are a special interest of the artist. She tries to show the textural differences of the rose by embracing sunlight in the composition. As the sunlight streams through, the transluscent delicate thin petals are juxtaposed to the opaque stems and thorns.
Family portraits are captured in a series of photography in a natural setting. This was especially meaningful as the series is of the artist's son, daughter-in-law and grandchild.
